When it comes to social games, cheating seems to be the norm these days.
According a report by info solutions, the majority of social gamers don’t cheat, of course.
Just 11 percent of UK Players and 7 percent of USA Players admit to it, but that still works out to 20 million+ of people at Zynga Games.
And 54 percent of these cheaters are male, despite accounting for only 45 percent of players overall.
We took some of the most important charts out of this study and posted them below.
Cheating by Gender
- Males are more likely to cheat while playing social games (54% vs. 46%).
Cheaters play more than non-cheaters
- Those who cheat while playing social games are more active social gamers, with 80% playing at least once a day.
More Cheaters are Premium Players than non-cheaters.
This might explain why Zynga never really banned cheaters in the past.
- Social game cheaters are more likely to purchase virtual currency with real-world money.
- At 55%, more than twice the number of cheaters have purchased virtual currency.
- 86% of the cheaters are Very or Somewhat Likely to purchase a virtual item to gain a short-lived advantage, compared to 42% of non-cheaters.
Where are the most cheaters?
- Based upon weekly gameplay of social game cheaters, the games where you would be least likely to find cheaters are Zuma Blitz and YoVille!
The above is part of a research that was conducted by Information Solutions Group (ISG; www.infosolutionsgroup.com) exclusively for PopCap Games. The results are based on 1,201 online surveys completed by members of Toluna’s Internet ePanel in the United States and United Kingdom.
